Small Holds Training (1/2 Day) |
|
The small holds were developed for staff who support young children or smaller adults. As well as protecting the individual and those around them, these holds have been designed to offer a reassuring way of providing physical support to a smaller person who has become physically challenging.
Training these as an additional resource is done through a half days training session and is an additional resource to the basic training.
In addition to the above costs travel costs and expenses would be added to the prices; however we always endeavour to keep these to a minimum.
Other courses are available by request, for example an Instructor Trainer can come to support a new Instructor through their first 2 day course. For organisations who are new to training BSS this is a requirement of the initial training because our bild accreditation states that there must be an experienced instructor present during the training of physical interventions.
The interventions are grouped into 4 categories:
Core interventions which include a range of non-restrictive, non– hands on interventions designed to offer protection in circumstances where a challenge has arisen.
The Supplementary Interventions which are only trained once the necessary behaviour support information and risk assessment work has been done, these include interventions which respond to specific behaviours and additional self protection interventions.
The Restrictive interventions, are a very small group of seldom used techniques for gaining rapid and safe control of severe crises and the small holds which are a group of intervention designed specifically to support children or very small people.
Please bear in mind that the training of any of theses interventions takes place as a small part of a wider approach to challenging behaviour. Many of the organisations that we work with find that they concentrate on this pro-active part of the training and need very few if any of the physical interventions.
