Behavioural Support Strategies (B.S.S.) is a pro-active, whole person approach to the management of challenging behaviour within a variety of education and care settings. We have instructors working in organisations across Scotland and Northern Ireland We have a proven record of delivering effective training courses which are accredited by the British Institute of Learning Disabilities who are the only organisation in the UK who accredit the training of Physical Interventions. Our whole ethos is centred on meeting the needs of individuals to prevent the occurrence of challenging behaviour in the first instance. We prioritise early intervention and the use of calming techniques with the physical intervention and protection techniques being used as a last resort. The BSS program was developed to support service users, carers and direct care staff. The Instructor trainer group are committed to making the process of becoming an Instructor a positive experience. We are keen to encourage the sharing of good practice and the development of new ideas which will enhance the learning experience of those who attend the courses. The Instructor Training Course that we have developed can be adapted to make it relevant for training within the following services: People with a Mental Illness or Mental Health issue Older people People with Dementia Children in Educational and Residential Services Adults and children with complex support needs Adults or children with physical sensory and learning difficulties Younger adults in transitional services Adults or children challenged by Autism We have a wide variety of organisations who have trained Instructors through us. |
